LinkDM Review 2026: Pricing, Limits and the Best LinkDM Alternative

Start with the small print, because on this tool it decides the outcome. LinkDM’s own help page explains what happens when your automation hits Instagram’s hourly send limit, and the two answers are not the same: “If you have subscribed to LinkDM Pro your DMs will be queued up and sent at the start of the next hour, if you are using LinkDM Free your DMs will resume sending to new comments only at the start of the next hour.”

Read that twice. On the paid plan the overflow waits its turn. On the free plan it is gone, and the people who commented during your best hour never hear from you. If a Reel takes off on a Tuesday night, that sentence is worth more to you than any feature list, and it is the sort of thing that sends people looking for a LinkDM alternative in the first place.

Two out-trays showing what happens to the overflow at the top of the hour, with LinkDM's own help-centre sentence quoted above them: if you have subscribed to LinkDM Pro your DMs will be queued up and sent at the start of the next hour, if you are using LinkDM Free your DMs will resume sending to new comments only. On the paid plan the comments answered inside the hour are sent, the overflow is held, the same people are reached the next hour and new comments after that are sent, so everyone who commented hears from you eventually. On the free plan the overflow is not queued, nothing arrives for those same people the next hour, and only new comments are answered, so the people who arrived during your best hour are the ones you lose. Pro also carries Slow Down Mode and Platinum+ adds a dedicated overflow queue.
The same spiking Reel on each plan. The difference is not a feature you can see in a comparison table, it is what becomes of the messages the hour could not carry.

This LinkDM review works the same way throughout: everything below about the product comes from LinkDM’s own pages, read on 6 September 2026, and where a claim is a judgement rather than a fact we say so. The second half looks at whether you need to move at all, and at DMly, which we build, so check our claims as carefully as theirs.

What LinkDM Is, and What It Deliberately Is Not

LinkDM turns a comment into a direct message, and that is the whole product. Somebody comments on your post, Reel or story and LinkDM sends them a DM with the link, offer or answer you set up. Creators, coaches and small businesses use it to capture leads without answering every comment by hand.

Two things about its scope are worth having straight before anything else, and both come from the vendor:

  • It is Instagram and Facebook only. Their own FAQ answers “Can LinkDM be used on other social media platforms?” with “LinkDM software only works with Instagram and Facebook.” Plenty of round-ups describe it as Instagram-only, which understates it slightly: Facebook comment auto-DM is on the free plan.
  • It is not a link-in-bio tool. They say so themselves: it “doesn’t offer link-in-bio services like Linktree”, it sends people to those links in the inbox instead.

They have been a Meta Business Partner since 2021 and say they use the official Instagram APIs, which matters more than it sounds. A tool that automates Instagram outside the official API is a tool that can take your account down with it, so the badge is a real thing to check for rather than a marketing line.

What LinkDM Actually Does

LinkDM keeps a narrow scope on purpose, and the feature list is unusually easy to check because they publish it in full. These are the parts that decide whether it fits.

Post, Reel, story and Facebook auto-DM

The core. A comment on a post or Reel triggers a DM. So does a story reply and a story @mention. Facebook comments get the same treatment. All four are on the free plan.

Keyword triggers, and universal triggers

You set the word that fires the DM, so “guide” gets the guide and “price” gets the price list. Universal triggers, which set one trigger across multiple placements instead of per post, are a Pro feature. On the free plan you are wiring posts up one at a time.

Comment auto-reply, which is Pro

This posts a public reply under the comment once the DM has gone, which is what tells everybody else scrolling that the mechanic is real. It is worth knowing that this is not on the free plan, because the public half of a comment-to-DM campaign is doing more work than most people credit.

Flow automation, DM planner and Rewind

Flow automation schedules a sequence of DMs and reminders after an engagement. The DM planner drafts messages for scheduled posts in advance. Rewind is the interesting one: it back-sends DMs to eligible comments you missed, which is a sensible answer to the problem of switching automation on after a post has already gone out. All three are Pro.

Lead generation and integrations

Lead generation captures email addresses inside the chat, and their published integrations connect those lead forms to Kit and Flodesk. That is a short list, and it tells you what the product is for: getting an address out of Instagram and into an email tool. Also on Pro: DM coupons, advertising auto-DM for comments on sponsored posts, inbox automation and Instagram Live auto-reply.

Slow Down Mode and the DM queue

Two features exist purely because of the send-rate problem in the opening. Slow Down Mode, on Pro, throttles your automations when a Reel is blowing up. The DM overflow queue, on Platinum+ only, holds sends that would otherwise be lost. A vendor building two separate features for one problem is telling you how often that problem happens.

LinkDM Pricing, and the Two Numbers Under It

Read on LinkDM’s own pricing page on 6 September 2026. Note that a promotional banner was running when we looked; promotions come and go, so these are the standard rates.

Free, $0 a month

One Instagram account, 1,000 DMs a month, and access to your last 10 posts. You get post and Reel auto-DM, story automations, Facebook automations, inbox conversation starters and the Next Post feature.

Their FAQ describes this as a “free account tier with no core feature limits”. Their own plan comparison, on the same site, marks twelve features unavailable on it: comment auto-reply, universal triggers, flow automation, lead generation, the DM planner, the follower growth tool, Rewind, Instagram Live auto-reply, inbox automation, advertising auto-reply, plus removing their branding and priority support. Both statements are theirs. Read the comparison table rather than the sentence, and if one of those twelve is the reason you are buying, the free plan is not the plan.

Two pages from LinkDM's own site read the same morning and shown together. At the top, their FAQ sentence: yes, you can sign up and use our free account tier with no core feature limits. Underneath, their own plan comparison as a board of chips. Twelve are marked unavailable on the free plan: comment auto-reply, universal triggers, flow automation, lead generation, the DM planner, the follower growth tool, Rewind back-send, Instagram Live auto-reply, inbox automation, advertising auto-reply, removing LinkDM branding and priority support. Eight are on the free plan: post and Reel auto-DM, story and mention auto-DM, Facebook auto-DM, 1,000 DMs a month on one account, access to your last 10 posts, inbox conversation starters, Next Post and the share to inbox trigger.
Both statements are LinkDM’s own, read the same morning. The one to plan around is the table.

Pro, $19 a month or $182 a year

Three Instagram accounts and 25,000 DMs per account per month, which is the phrasing on their own page and is more generous than a flat account limit. This is the tier that carries the working product: comment auto-reply, universal triggers, flow automation, lead generation, the DM planner, Rewind, Slow Down Mode, inbox and advertising automation, branding removal and priority support.

The annual price is $182, which their page labels a 20 per cent discount against $228.

Platinum+, $99 a month or $832 a year

Ten Instagram accounts, 300,000 DMs per account per month, early access to new features, a direct line to their team, the DM overflow queue and a high-volume rate limiter. The annual figure carries a 30 per cent discount against $1,188.

The gap from $19 to $99 is the honest sticking point in this pricing. Nothing sits between them, so an account that outgrows three profiles or wants the overflow queue makes a five-fold jump to get it.

Where LinkDM Is the Right Tool

It is worth being clear about this, because a comparison written by a competitor is worthless if it cannot say when the other product wins.

  • A single creator running lead magnets. Comment a word, get the link. LinkDM does this in about a minute and $19 a month is not a decision anybody agonises over.
  • Anyone whose world is Instagram and Facebook. If those are your only two channels and you have no intention of adding more, the narrow scope is a feature, not a limitation.
  • Getting an address into an email tool. Their lead capture plus the Kit and Flodesk connections is a short, direct path from a comment to a mailing list.
  • Recovering a post you automated too late. Rewind back-sending to eligible comments is a genuinely good idea and not everyone has it.
  • Testing whether comment-to-DM works for you at all. The free plan is real, it needs no card, and 1,000 DMs is enough to find out.

Where LinkDM Stops

These are limits of scope, not quality. We have not run LinkDM on a paid plan this month, so we are not going to tell you how good its interface feels. What we can tell you is what their published material does and does not cover.

  • Two channels, both owned by Meta. No WhatsApp, no TikTok, no SMS, no live chat on your site. If a customer moves from Instagram to WhatsApp mid-conversation, that thread starts again in another tool.
  • No customer record. There is no CRM in the published feature list. Leads go out to an email tool; they do not accumulate into a customer you can look up next month.
  • Nothing after the message. No bookings, no invoices, no payments, no review requests. For a creator selling a digital product that is fine. For a salon it means the DM is the start of a manual process.
  • The free tier throws away overflow. The opening quotation, again, because it is the one that costs money.
  • A steep step between tiers. $19 to $99 with nothing between.

One claim we are deliberately not making: their pages describe triggers, templates and flows rather than an AI agent, and we could not find an AI feature in their published material. That is not the same as saying they have no AI, and if it matters to your decision, ask them.

DMly as a LinkDM Alternative

The two products overlap on one feature and diverge on everything else. DMly also turns an Instagram comment into a DM. What it adds is what happens next, and whether that is worth anything to you depends entirely on whether your business ends at the link.

The comment-to-DM part, with the rules stated

An Instagram comment can open a DM with somebody who has never messaged you, because Meta provides a private reply mechanism for exactly that. It has hard edges worth designing around, and they apply to any tool using the official API:

  • One per comment. Only the first message of the run uses the private reply, so each comment is processed exactly once.
  • Text only. If the first message in your flow is an image or a card, the private-reply mechanism is skipped and the send goes out as an ordinary DM, which may not reach somebody who has never messaged you. Put the link in a plain text message and the media after it.
  • Later messages are ordinary DMs. The comment opens a 24-hour window and follow-ups are attempted normally inside it.

Our Instagram comment-to-DM guide covers building the campaign, and the Instagram automation setup guide covers connecting the account.

An AI agent, on every plan

Keyword triggers answer the people who use your keyword. An AI agent trained on your own business answers the ones who do not, which on Instagram is most of them: “how much” and “is this available in a 12” arrive in a hundred phrasings.

AI agents are included on every DMly plan. What changes with the plan is the monthly allowance of AI replies, at 500, 5,000 and 20,000, plus the option to bring your own provider key on the top plan.

Seven more channels in the same inbox

Instagram sits alongside WhatsApp, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, SMS and live chat, in one shared inbox with assignment, private notes and saved replies. That is the difference that matters for a business rather than a creator: the customer who found you on Instagram and then messages on WhatsApp is the same contact, not a new one. Our guide to running one inbox covers how that works in practice.

A CRM the automation can read

Contacts, tags, notes and pipelines are part of the product, so a flow can branch on what it already knows about somebody rather than only on what they just typed. That is the practical version of “personalisation”, and it is worth more than the word suggests: it is the difference between greeting a returning customer by name and asking them who they are for the third time.

Everything after the message

Appointments and classes, products and services, subscriptions, invoices and payments, and Google review requests are in the same system. A comment can become a booking that becomes a payment that becomes a review, without anybody retyping a customer’s name.

For a creator selling a PDF, none of that is worth paying for and LinkDM is the better buy. For a salon, a clinic or a studio it is the entire point.

Where DMly is the wrong answer

Three honest ones. Instagram Business accounts only: personal and creator accounts cannot be connected, which rules out a chunk of LinkDM’s own audience. There is no Rewind equivalent. DMly’s documentation is explicit that only brand-new comments fire a trigger, so a post you automate late is a post whose earlier comments are gone for good. And DMly starts at $29 a month against LinkDM’s free tier, so if comment-to-DM on one account is genuinely all you need, you would be paying for a system you are not using.

Do You Need a LinkDM Alternative? Five Situations

You are a creator selling a lead magnet

LinkDM, almost certainly. Somebody comments “guide”, they get the link, the address goes to your email tool. That is the job, LinkDM does exactly that job, and the free plan will tell you inside a week whether it works for your audience. Watch the hourly overflow rule if your posts spike.

You run Instagram ads

Both can help, and the question is what happens to the lead. LinkDM’s advertising auto-DM answers comments on sponsored posts from Pro. If the lead then needs qualifying, routing to a person, or booking in, that work has to happen somewhere and LinkDM is not where it happens.

You run a local business with appointments

This is the clearest split on the page. A salon or a clinic wants the comment to become a booking, the booking to become a payment, and the customer to come back. LinkDM ends at the message by design. If your Instagram DMs are where bookings start, you want the system that also takes the booking.

You run an agency

LinkDM Pro connects three Instagram accounts and Platinum+ connects ten, which is a straightforward answer if all your clients want the same campaign. DMly’s agency side is built around separate client workspaces with your own branding and domain, which is a different shape: fewer clients doing more things each, rather than more clients doing one thing.

You are already on WhatsApp

Then the decision is mostly made. LinkDM does not do WhatsApp, so you are running two tools and two contact lists, and the customer who comments on Instagram and then messages your WhatsApp number is two people as far as your software is concerned.

Final Verdict

LinkDM does what it says, at a price that makes the decision easy, on the official API, with a real free tier. For a creator turning Instagram engagement into email addresses it is a good buy and this review is not going to pretend otherwise.

Its limits are limits of scope. Two channels, no customer record, nothing after the message, and a free tier that drops overflow rather than queueing it. None of that is a flaw in the product. It is the product.

So the question behind “what is the best LinkDM alternative” is really a question about where your work ends. If it ends when the link is sent, buy the cheaper tool. If the link is where the work starts, because somebody then has to be answered, qualified, booked, charged and asked for a review, you are choosing between paying $19 for the first step and paying for the whole sequence. That is a real trade, and it goes in different directions for a creator and for a salon.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is LinkDM used for?

Automating direct messages on Instagram and Facebook. When somebody comments on a post or Reel, replies to a story or mentions you in one, LinkDM sends them a DM with the link, offer or answer you set up.

How much does LinkDM cost?

Read on their pricing page on 6 September 2026: a free plan at $0, Pro at $19 a month and Platinum+ at $99 a month, or $182 and $832 billed yearly, which their page labels 20 and 30 per cent discounts. Free is one Instagram account and 1,000 DMs a month; Pro is three accounts at 25,000 DMs per account a month; Platinum+ is ten accounts at 300,000.

Is the LinkDM free plan enough?

It is enough to find out whether comment-to-DM works for your audience, which is a good reason to start there. It is not enough to run a campaign properly, because comment auto-reply, flow automation, lead generation, the DM planner, universal triggers and Rewind are all marked unavailable on it in their own plan comparison.

The rule to check before you rely on it is the hourly send limit: on Pro, overflow is queued and sent at the start of the next hour, and on Free, sending resumes only for new comments.

Is LinkDM safe for my Instagram account?

They are a certified Meta Business Partner and say they use the official Instagram APIs, which is the right basis for any Instagram automation tool. The general rule holds whichever tool you pick: automation that runs through the official API is a different category of risk from anything driving a logged-in session, and a tool promising bulk cold DMs is promising something the API does not allow.

What are the best LinkDM alternatives?

DMly is the one we build, and it suits businesses whose Instagram DMs turn into bookings, payments and repeat customers rather than email addresses. Manychat is the other name people reach for, and it is genuinely strong on social campaign mechanics.

We quote no Manychat price here. Manychat publishes its prices openly and any person opening the site in a browser can read them, but our own checks, made without disguising what we are, receive an automated challenge on every path. That is a limitation on us rather than a criticism of them, and quoting a directory listing instead is not a substitute, so read their pricing page yourself. The part that survives without a figure is structural: Manychat meters active contacts a month, so the bill tracks how many different people you talk to.

Can DMly automate Instagram DMs?

Yes: comment-to-DM through Meta’s private reply, story replies, story mentions, ordinary DMs and taps on an ice breaker all start a flow, with four keyword matching modes. One thing to know before you plan around it is that Instagram automation needs a Business account, because personal and creator accounts cannot be connected.

Can DMly replace LinkDM completely?

For most businesses yes, with one exception worth naming: LinkDM’s Rewind, which back-sends DMs to comments left before you switched the automation on, has no DMly equivalent. Our own documentation is explicit that only brand-new comments fire a trigger, and there is no way to go back and collect the earlier ones. If you routinely automate posts after they have already gone out, that is a real thing you would give up.

The other direction matters more. Replacing LinkDM with DMly only makes sense if you want the things LinkDM does not do at all, which is every channel beyond Meta’s two, a customer record, and the booking, invoice and review work that comes after the conversation.
